Acoustically optimised living and dining area – Victorian townhouse in South West London
In this private home in South West London, the living and dining area was specifically enhanced both acoustically and visually. The solution used was smartline 23/6 in oak, transforming the wall surface into a striking design feature while also delivering a noticeable improvement in room acoustics.
The fine vertical structure of the panels brings a sense of calm, warmth and architectural clarity to the space. At the same time, the acoustically effective surface helps to reduce reverberation and significantly improves everyday comfort. In open-plan living areas in particular, where cooking, dining, conversation and family life all come together, good acoustics are a key factor in creating a genuine sense of wellbeing.
Because quality of living is not defined by attractive materials and a cohesive interior alone. It is also reflected in the way a room sounds. Anyone who spends many hours at home needs an environment that not only looks good, but also provides acoustic relief. Only then can a space offer the sense of calm that allows people to truly switch off, feel at home and regenerate.
Improving the acoustics in the home is not a luxury, but the foundation of healthy living and wellbeing.
This project shows just how effective acoustic refurbishment in the home can be: with comparatively little effort, a fast installation process, and a result that can be seen and felt immediately. The smartline 23/6 in oak combines a warm, residential aesthetic with clear functional benefits, turning an open-plan living and dining area into a space with greater calm, depth and comfort.
